Quran was brought down on the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) by Allah (SWT). The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) in small parts and not at once. The intention and wisdom of Allah (SWT) behind it was to make the holy Prophet preach the teachings of Islam in small portions so that the believers and nonbelievers alike can understand and absorb it easily. The believers of Allah (SWT) when listened to the verses recited by the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) their faith in Allah (SWT) and the Prophet Muhammad became stronger and through which they became good and pure Muslims in every sense.
Being a Muslim it is obligatory upon us to recite, listen and understand the Quran. While reading and listing to the Quran will not only help us understand the true essence of Islam but will also make us good human beings. Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:
“And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognised of the truth. They say” Or lord we have believed so register us among the witnesses.’”
Listening to Quran has a great impact on one’s soul. While listening to Quran makes us realise the power of Allah (SWT), His supremacy and also makes us understand that we have no control over anything. While listening to Quran, our soul feeds on the purity of the words of Quran and makes us realise our sins and bow down to Allah (SWT).
Listening to the Holy Quran can have both physical and emotional benefits. When you recite or listen to the Holy Quran, it helps us understand the true concept of Islam and brings us closer to Allah (SWT). To realize the words which you are listening to are the words of the Almighty Allah, not the words of a random human. While we listen to Quran we also come to recognise that Allah (SWT) is the true creator of the heavens and the earth and is very overwhelming.
to listen to its recitation leaves an amazingly effective and fresh feeling within us, in our hearts and soul as we begin to realise that Allah (SWT) can remedy all our issues in a matter of seconds, and that He on his own can mend our broken hearts and He on His own is the true healer of those hearts!. The other great thing about listing to Quran and trying to understand is that the listener will get the feeling that Allah (SWT) is directly communicating with us through is true message that is Quran.
When we listen to the Quran our perspective of life changes and its horizon widens. For example if we listen to Surah Rehman, we come to understand that Allah (SWT) is the true God and has power over each and everything that exists in this universe. In Surah Rehman Allah (SWT) repeatedly asks us the following.
None, indeed. Listening to the Quran makes you reflect, makes you feel like you have a friend, that you’re never lonely because the words of Allah, as true as the heavens and the earth, are with you! You realize that this world is temporary, it makes you detach from worldly and materialistic things and strive for a better tomorrow, a better Hereafter!
Indeed we can’t deny none. The other benefit of listening to the Quran is that it helps us reflect on our whole life and what we need to do to become part of the pact who follow the path of righteousness. Listening to the Quran also makes us feel that we have a guardian or a friend who is looking over us and we won’t have to feel lonely because He is always there for us. The most important aspect of listening to the Quran is that it helps us detach ourselves from the worldly gains and helps us focus on the ultimate goal that is to become a true Muslim and be among the ones from whom the Allah (SWT) is pleased with and blessed with his mercy. Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:
“When the Qur’an is read, listen to it with attention, and remain silent, that you may receive mercy.” [7:204]
Finally, as mentioned above when you listen to the words of the Holy Quran, it acts as a best antidote for us to relive ourselves from the sins that we have committed.
