After going through different researches and lab experiments many scientists have concluded that there are many benefits of adopting Sunnah in our daily life. These researches have been proved to be factual recently, where as the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) have not only taught us 1400 years ago. Below mentioned are few of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) whose benefits have been proven scientifically.

Early to Bed Early to Rise

According to the companions of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H), He usually go to bed and sleep early, retiring after Isha, and usually woke up well before dawn.

Abu Barzah (RTA) said: The Messenger of Allah disliked sleeping before the Isha prayer and indulging in conversation after it.” (Muslim)

Modern science has revealed that our organs detoxify when we are in deep sleep during the night. To accomplish ideal detoxification a person should be in bed after 9:00 pm and be in deep sleep in between 11:00 pm to 5:00 am.

Afternoon Nap

Narrated by Anas Bin Malik: “Umme Salma used to spread a leather sheet for the Prophet and he used to take a midday nap at her home.” (Bukhari)

Science has proven that taking naps on the afternoon can improve functionality of the brain and boots morning fresh energy. Some organizations are now providing room and time for afternoon naps which are called “power naps” to increase productivity of their employees.

Closing Mouth When Yawning

“When one of you yawns, he should try to restrain it with the help of his hand since it is the devil that enters therein.”

The modern science in recent years described yawning as a way for germs to enter in the  body through the mouth when a person breathes in. The Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) stressed to put a hand on the mouth when yawning.

Use of Miswak

“Miswak cleanses the mouth and pleases the Lord and if I had not found it hard for my followers or the people, I would have ordered them to clean their teeth with siwak for every prayer.”

Scientists while doing their research on Miswak have discovered a total of 19 natural substances available in Miswak that are beneficial for dental health. Miswak contains tannic acids, number of natural antiseptics and aromatic oils that kill harmful microorganisms, protect the gums from disease and increases salivation.

Oiling of Hair

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet said: “Eat olive oil (Zaytoon) and anoint yourselves with it, for it is a blessed tree, whoever has hair should honor it.” (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah)

Men and women alike are using different aromatic oils to maintain the health of their hair while giving it a shining and glowing look. Oil massage in the hair not only maintains healthy hair bot also increases the blood circulation in the head to avoid different diseases and headaches.
